Welcome
Dear Colleagues,
It is my pleasure and honor to host the 21st World Congress of Epidemiology, International Epidemiological Association (IEA) that will take place at Sonic City in Saitama, Japan on August 19-22, 2017.
Following the 20th WCE in Anchorage in 2014, we believe to provide opportunities to exchange information about the development of epidemiology in all the fields and to strengthen the relationship among epidemiologists in the world. The main theme is “Global / Regional / Local Health and Epidemiology in a Changing World”, which is appropriate one for discussing the 3-year development of epidemiology from 2014 through 2017.
The venue, Sonic City, is very close to JR (Japan Railways) Omiya Station. A Shinkansen (Bullet trains) takes you to Omiya for 25 minutes from Tokyo Station, or it takes 30-40 minutes from Tokyo area by local train. Trains, buses, airport limousine buses from Narita International Airport are available; as are trains and buses from Haneda Airport (Tokyo International Airport). Many hotels are available around the venue with not so expensive prices as well.
It is hot in August in Japan. But hot season is suitable for hot discussions in the Congress. We welcome many epidemiologists from all of the world!
Sincerely,
Yosikazu Nakamura, MD, MPH, FFPH
Congress President
